In 1965, they were acquired again, but this time by Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (IT&T) and under CEO management, they focused on their international growth and therefore became the leader in renting cars in Europe.
In 1972, Avis moved past the competition by implementing the Wizard System, which was the first and biggest computerized information system for U.S. car rental companies. By the early 1990s, this information system was able to make reservations, process rentals and keep a maintenance schedule for all of the Avis vehicles. This Wizard System was just the beginning of Internet Rentals through Avis.com.
